Matt Emmons is the Managing Attorney for Crescent Title’s Hammond office. Matt joined Crescent Title after more than a decade leading a real estate development and construction litigation and transactional practice with one of the nation’s top law firms.
Matt’s passion for real estate and transactional and litigation background allow him to provide practical and insightful guidance to help buyers and sellers overcome hurdles and get to the closing table. In addition to real estate closings and related matters, Matt has extensive experience drafting and negotiating construction and design related contracts for contractors and owners/developers, and regularly provides legal counsel on complex, multi-million-dollar construction projects. Matt also has significant experience with mechanic’s liens and New Home Warranty Act issues.
Matt’s legal accomplishments have been recognized by Louisiana Super Lawyers (Rising Star 2015 – 2022), Best Lawyers in America (2020-2022), and Chambers USA (2016-2021), among others.
Matt earned his Juris Doctorate and Graduate Diploma in Civil Law from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 2009, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif for his academic excellence. While at LSU Law, Matt was awarded several academic scholarships, earned the CALI Excellence Award for achieving the highest grade in eleven courses, and was named to the Chancellor’s List each semester.
Prior to law school, Matt attended Southeastern Louisiana University, where he earned a B.A. in Marketing, graduating summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. Matt was named to the Dean’s/President’s List each semester and earned the President’s Medal for maintaining the highest overall GPA in the College of Business during his time at SELU.
Matt is admitted to practice before all courts, both federal and state, in Louisiana. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, 21st and 22nd JDC Bar Associations, and the Louisiana Association of Independent Title Attorneys. Matt is certified by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission to teach continuing education.
